Another milestone gone
Well, thats bonfire night iver with, we went to the local pub for ours again this year, then had a small box of fireworks at home along with the traditional pie and peas and parkin. How didnyou celebrate?
On waking this morning I can still smell the wood smoke, a rather pleasant smell I think, and it took me right back to my childhood when we had our bonfire in the back garden. We would normally be straight round the back from getting in from school, collecting up the spent firework casings and playing games with them. For days after, whilst walking to school and back , we would find rocket sticks and wonder what direction they had come from and did the people say ooooo and ahhhhh!
This time of year was a magical exciting time for us kids, we had just seen off the ghouls and ghosties, celebrated the guy who tried to blow up Parliment ( lips are sealed), both of these occassions were seen as the start to one of the most magical times in the year….Christmas! I only hope that I can make this time just as magical for my grandaughter as my parents made it for me.
