first visit to the endocrinologist next week
On Monday I will make my first trip to the hospital for my first visit to see an endocrinologist. I meet this appointment with trepidation and, to be honest, not too much hope that this may be the start to feeling well again. Docotrs and specialists in the UK do not think that thyroid problems are serious and most seem to think one tablet a day can cure all the ills that come with it, unfortunately that is not so, and thousands of people suffer or are mis diagnosed. My last TsH result showed a slight raise, up to .56 and I got a print out of my tests done back untill June, which do not really reflect the way this thyroid has been fluctuating. However, in July I asked for several other test to be done, only one of which was actually done and promptly dismissed as not significant by my Doctor. This was the test to see if antibodies were present, and lo and behold, an above average prescence was detected. Things I had suspected for a couple of years began to fall into place, the joint and leg pains, the fluctuating test results, the hot flushes ( which could also be an age thing! lol ) The migraine type headaches that lay me low for three days at a time. The prescence of higher than average antibodies indicates I have, or will have, an auto immune disease called Hashimotos
I will report back after my visit on Monday, the Doctor I am seeing specialises in gestational diabetes, thyroid problems comes third on her list of interests, so we will see……….
