Moving on up in school
Little Legs was away from school last week with a rather nasty water infection so she missed leaving her reception class. We knew that she had a visit day into her new class in year one on the 15 th, what I didn’t realise, and what wasn’t made clear, was that it wasn’t just a visit but THE move up!
i duly deposited a rather clingy shy little girl into her new class, we managed to find her pump bag which had been brought through from the other class room but not her brand new pumps.
I left the room with strict instructions to the teacher about toilet matters for Little Legs and set off home.
Back to school at the end of the day led to a little more confusion for parents as it was in and out of school corridors to find the door they were to leave by, finally out came a smiling little girl clutching Sid and Ronnie, who had sneaked a stay at school amidst the kerfuffle over the pumps! I plucked up the courage to ask the much needed, dreaded question…….
‘Hi sweetie did you like our first day in year one? ‘
‘Not really!! ‘ came the reply,
‘ I had to sit down and do WORK when I wanted to play!’
This is going to be a long, long 12 years
